Public service broadcaster Abu Dhabi Media has invited submissions from the country’s budding photography community for this year’s National Geographic Abu Dhabi Young Photographer of the Year competition.

This year’s ‘Yellow Through My Eyes’ themed competition presented by Audemars Piguet will be held at Manarat Al Saadiyat.

Open to those between the ages of 16-21, the competition entries will be judged by a panel of experts including Alsaad Almenhaly, editor-in-chief of National Geographic Alarabiya Magazine at Abu Dhabi Media; Chérif Chamandi, director at Audemars Piguet; Ishaq Al Hammadi, editor at National Geographic Alarabiya Magazine and Bader Alnomani, photography studio senior specialist at Manarat Al Saadiyat.

The judges will select three winners. The first-place winner will receive a Canon EOS R6 full-frame mirrorless camera. The second winner will be awarded a Canon EOS 90D Body camera, while third place winner will receive a Canon EOS 250D Black.

The prizes will be presented at Manarat Al Saadiyat on the opening night of the National Geographic exhibition on the December 16.

The theme of the competition ‘Yellow Through My Eyes’, is inspired by the color of the frame of the magazine. “This is an important, high-quality competition for young talent interested in photography,” said Alsaad Almenhaly, Editor-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Media’s National Geographic Alarabiya Magazine. “We appeal to all young talents to embrace the chance and be part of an exciting competition that provides opportunities to sharpen their skills and interact with industry professionals.”

Chérif Chamandi, director of Audemars Piguet, added: “Committed to fostering dialogues among creative fields, Audemars Piguet follows up on the creative challenges initiated in recent years with rising artists to help them explore different territories and reach new heights in their careers.”
