n a joint effort to enhance traffic flow and safety on one of Dubai’s busiest highways, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Police General Headquarters have announced changes to truck movement timings on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.

Effective from April 28, 2024, the adjustments will be implemented along the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, spanning from Ras Al Khor Road to Sharjah, in both directions.

The move aims to alleviate congestion during peak traffic hours and improve overall road efficiency, said the RTA in its notification.

Under the new schedule, truck movement will be restricted during specific periods throughout the day.

The updated timings are as follows:

  • Morning restrictions: Trucks will be prohibited from traveling on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road from 6:30 AM to 8:30 AM.
  • Afternoon restrictions: Two separate time slots will be designated for restricted truck movement in the afternoon. The first period will be from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a second interval from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM.

These measures are aimed at reducing congestion during peak traffic hours, particularly along this critical artery connecting Dubai to Sharjah.
