Al Khayyat Investments (AKI), a diversified Emirati family-owned holding company, has announced a strategic investment of $100 million to launch VetHealth, a new veterinary business vertical designed to expand access to world-class animal health solutions across the Middle East.
The new platform has been established as a comprehensive animal health partner, bringing together expertise across pharmaceuticals, biologicals, biosecurity, nutrition and diagnostics. Through the initiative, AKI aims to support organisations, veterinary professionals and government entities working to strengthen animal health and food production systems throughout the region.
Supporting regional development priorities
The investment underscores AKI’s view that animal health plays a vital role in food security, public health resilience and long-term economic sustainability. The company said VetHealth will contribute to national and regional development objectives, including the UAE’s National Food Security Strategy 2051.

Headquartered in the UAE, VetHealth will serve both the commercial animal production sector and the growing companion animal market. Its launch comes at a time of strong growth in the veterinary healthcare industry across the Middle East and Africa (MEA).
According to market projections, the MEA veterinary healthcare market is expected to reach $6.91 billion by 2033, driven by increasing demand for livestock productivity as well as rising rates of pet ownership across the region.
Five core business divisions
At launch, VetHealth will operate through five key divisions: Pharmaceuticals, Biologicals, Biosecurity, Nutrition and Diagnostics. The company plans to work closely with regional and international industry leaders within these sectors to support market expansion and drive long-term growth.
The new business will draw on AKI’s more than 60 years of experience in the healthcare sector, positioning it to serve a broad customer base that includes animal farms, feed mills, veterinary clinics, pharmacies and government entities involved in animal care and food-producing animal biosecurity.
By combining healthcare expertise with an extensive regional distribution network, AKI said VetHealth is well positioned to become a significant player in the region’s evolving animal health landscape.
Long-term commitment to animal wellbeing
“Animal health is a strategic enabler of food security, public health, and long-term economic resilience. Through this investment, we are building VetHealth as a regional platform that connects governments, producers, veterinary professionals, and global partners with trusted, world-class solutions. This is a long-term commitment to strengthening the systems that protect animals, people, and communities across the region,” said Zaid S. Al Khayyat, MD, Al Khayyat Investments.
Malik Hassan, GM, AKI Environmental – VetHealth, said the new venture reflects the company’s broader commitment to creating lasting social and economic value.
“At AKI, we invest in sectors that create real, lasting value for society. VetHealth reflects our belief in the power of compassionate care. We are committed to supporting the professionals, the institutions, and other industry stakeholders that improve animal wellbeing and ensure the sustainability of food production in the region,” he said.
