Wizz Air Abu Dhabi has announced that it will operate new flights between Abu Dhabi and the two cities of Almaty and Nur Sultan in Kazakhstan.

These flights by the UAE’s national airline are expected to commence from May 2021. It takes the total number of destinations serviced by the airline up to 15.

The flight to Almaty will be operated twice a week on Mondays and Fridays, while those to the capital of Kazakhstan, Nur Sultan, will also be undertaken twice weekly, on Thursdays and Sundays.

The airline said in a statement that tickets are already on sale on its website with fares starting as low as Dhs159.

“The new routes from Abu Dhabi to Almaty and Nur Sultan will encourage increased travel between the UAE and Kazakhstan through ultra-low-fare travel options,” said Kees Van Schaick, managing director of Wizz Air Abu Dhabi.

Wizz Air Abu Dhabi reportedly has the youngest fleet composed of four brand-new Airbus A321neo aircraft, offering the lowest fuel burn, emissions and noise footprint.

Last month, the carrier confirmed that it would commence flights to Egypt, weeks after it conducted its inaugural flight to Athens on January 15 from the Abu Dhabi International Airport.

It has also launched an automated refund process that handles cash conversion refund requests within one week. For passengers whose flights have been cancelled, based on the option selected by the customer, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi will automatically refund 120 per cent of the original fare in airline credit, or provide passengers the option to receive a 100 per cent cash refund to their original payment method, or provide the chance to rebook for free.
