UAE’s Majid Al Futtaim Leisure, Entertainment & Cinemas has become the new Middle East distribution partner for Warner Bros. Pictures.

The licensing agreement commences with The Suicide Squad which will be released in IMAX and other formats at VOX Cinemas and movie theatres across the region on August 5.

Warner Bros. Pictures Group is comprised of Warner Bros. Pictures, New Line Cinema, Warner Animation Group and DC-based film production. Its portfolio of films comprises of worldwide theatrical releases and films premiering exclusively on HBO Max.

Majid Al Futtaim meanwhile operates operates 615 screens across eight markets in the Middle East and, making it the region’s largest exhibitor, besides operating a large regional film distribution business.

In related developments, VOX Cinemas recently introduced CTRL, the region’s first interactive movie experience which lets the audience collectively decide how the plot unfolds.

The new cinematic experience, in partnership with entertainment and tech company, Kino Industries, was launched across the UAE and Saudi Arabia on August 5.

CTRL is the world’s first interactive feature-length film, and enables cinemagoers to decide the fate of the lead character and the course of the movie using a simple voting system on an app. The high stakes action thriller has numerous storylines consisting of 180 decision points and seven alternative endings.
