UAE family conglomerate AW Rostamani said on Sunday it had acquired a majority stake in London and South East England car retailer Brayleys.

The company said the transaction, for an undisclosed sum, was its first investment in the UK motor retail sector.

Under the agreement, three AW Rostamani executives will join the Brayleys board while managing director Paul Brayley will continue to oversee the business with his current management team.

AW Rostamani said it would support the company’s expansion in the UK through the investment

“The acquisition of a majority stake in Brayleys is underlined by our strategy to expand and build our business in the UK, a key automotive market,” said company chairman Khalid Al Rostamani.

“We have been assessing various options for investments and identified Brayleys as a perfect fit to our vision. We will continue to explore new opportunities to help enhance our presence in the UK and focus on leveraging significant growth opportunities with Brayleys.”

AW Rostamani is the exclusive distributor of Nissan, Infiniti and Renault vehicles in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, with a total of 21 showrooms and 16 service centres.
