UAE-based telecom services du and etisalat by e&, have signed a master developer agreement (MDA) with real estate developer Aldar Properties.

By virtue of the agreement, both service providers will deliver telecommunications infrastructure for the developer’s major projects in line with the Taawun infrastructure deployment initiative.

Taawun, a joint initiative to support the government’s vision in developing smart infrastructure, gives customers an opportunity to select their telecom operator of choice.

Under the agreement, du and Etisalat will install, maintain, and oversee fixed telecom services and solutions across Aldar Properties’ projects at Abu Dhabi-based destinations. These include Yas Island, Saadiyat Island, Al Raha and Reem Island, as well as government housing and infrastructure projects.

Aldar residents will be able to choose their service provider and have access to the latest fiber-optics and advanced 5G communication solutions, a statement said. This will enable communities to become smart, sustainable areas for their residents.

“Through this partnership with du and e&, not only will we further advance the telecom infrastructure across our developments, we will also reinforce our continuous efforts to remain at the forefront of digital transformation, sustainable development, and operational excellence,” said Adel Abdulla Albreiki, CEO of Aldar Projects.

Aldar recorded sales of Dhs9.3bn for the first nine months of 2022, surpassing FY2021 total group sales by Dhs2bn.

The sales performance was driven by strong demand for existing inventory and new property launches in the UAE as well as sales in Egypt.
