UAE schools shift to remote learning, MOHRE issues advisory as heavy rainfall forecasted

Public schools across the UAE will transition to remote learning on Tuesday, April 16 and Wednesday, April 17 in anticipation of heavy rainfall, announced the government’s media office on Monday.

The Emirates Schools Establishment made the decision to implement remote education due to the expected adverse weather conditions, aiming to ensure the safety of students and teaching staff, as per a statement released by the authority.

The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has forecasted unstable weather, including rain, thunder, lightning, and hail, across the Emirates from Monday evening through midday on Wednesday.

MOHRE issues advisory

Additionally, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE) issued a statement urging private sector companies to take precautions in outdoor work environments.

The ministry emphasised the importance of ensuring the health and safety of workers, especially in light of the expected weather fluctuations.

The MoHRE circular advised companies to adhere to directives from relevant local authorities in each emirate regarding the impact of exceptional weather conditions on business operations.

The statement read, “In light of the exceptional weather conditions forecasted for the UAE, and in coordination with relevant authorities across the country, we advise private sector companies to take all necessary precautions and make sure that occupational health and safety requirements are met to ensure the safety of their workers during the expected period of weather fluctuations”.

In response to the forecasted weather, Abu Dhabi Police affirmed their readiness to manage the expected conditions, ensuring preparedness across the emirate.

Last month, the UAE experienced heavy rainfall, prompting some private sector employers issue a work from home directive during that period as a precautionary measure.
