Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, was given a tour of Atlantis The Royal, ahead of its ‘grand reveal’.

Located on Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah Island, the ultra-luxury resort is 43 storeys high and spans 406,000 square metres.

Commenting on the newest addition to Dubai’s landmark hospitality attractions, Sheikh Mohammed said the private sector continues to be a key partner in Dubai’s development journey and a vital contributor to realising its growth aspirations. He stated that public-private sector partnerships are at the heart of Dubai’s development vision and a key driver of vital sectors like tourism, according to the Dubai Media Office.

Sheikh Mohammed added: “We have ambitious growth targets for the sector over the next ten years. The UAE and Dubai seek to build on their deep partnerships with the private sector to strengthen the country’s status as the world’s most popular destination for international tourists.

“As part of our efforts to create a fertile ground for investors, we are keen to foster new growth opportunities in the tourism sector. Our steadfast commitment to building an exceptionally safe and stable environment and a world-class infrastructure over the last few decades has created the foundations for a remarkable future.”

A unique landmark
During his visit, Sheikh Mohammed was briefed on the resort’s unique concept by the hotel’s senior management. Its impressive 500-metre-long, 178-metre-high mega structure is shaped like Tetris blocks.

It comprises six towers linked by a 90×33-metre sky bridge, which together with dramatically illuminated openings between each of its blocks creates a stunning pattern on the night skyline. The resort also includes an innovative sky garden concept.

The interior design is inspired by Bedouin culture. The hotel also showcases the “preciousness” of water with stunning water features, unique sculptures and appealing colour palettes.

The resort has two different waterfront views: the Arabian Gulf on one side and the sheltered lagoon of Palm Jumeirah Island and the Dubai skyline on the other.

Atlantis The Royal has a collection of 795 rooms, suites and penthouses. The resort will offer guests exclusive curated experiences, including swimming amongst the clouds in sky pools, water fountains that “breathe fire” and dining at celebrity chef restaurants.
