In order to promote traffic safety, the Abu Dhabi Police General Command has announced that the speed limit on Abu Dhabi’s Sweihan (also Suwaihan) Road — from Al Falah Bridge towards Abu Dhabi International Airport — has been reset.

Starting Sunday, June 4, the speed limit will reduce from 140kmph to 120kmph, as per a joint statement released by the Abu Dhabi Police General Command with the Integrated Transport Centre.

The Abu Dhabi Police General Command shared a tweet to that effect. Signboards informing drivers of the change have been put up.

Speed limit changes on key roads in Abu Dhabi and Dubai

In April, Abu Dhabi Police introduced a new minimum speed limit of 120km/h on Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Road starting April 1 and from May 1 violators now face a Dhs400 fine.

In other news, starting January 12, Dubai’s RTA reduced the speed limit on Dubai-Hatta Road in the sector extending between Dubai, Ajman and Al Hosn Roundabout from 100 km/h to 80 km/h. The zone covers approximately 6 kilometres.
