NCM issues fog warnings across UAE

The announcement comes as residents return to work following the long National Day weekend

The UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a fog warning for road users across the UAE.

The announcement comes as many residents return to work following a long weekend to celebrate the country’s National Day.

On Tuesday morning, NCM tweeted diagrams of potential heavy fog where visibility could be reduced to less than 1,000 metres across certain parts of the country.

In addition, the organisation advised drivers to be cautious and even pull over if the visibility is particularly poor.

Initial warnings were first issued last night as vast amounts of fog was present in the air. This continued into the early hours of this morning.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has advised drivers to pay extra attention when driving in foggy conditions and to keep a safe distance from vehicles in front.

Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters (GHQ) has also issued similar warnings to drivers.

Other than the fog, UAE residents can expect to see partly cloudy weather and moderate winds.

This year’s fog lines up with similar conditions last Christmas, which resulted in flight delays.
