The first milestone is the successful award of the Central Andaman license by Indonesia’s oil and gas regulator, MIGAS, as part of the country’s recent licensing round. Mubadala Energy, holding a 40 per cent stake, will partner with Harbour Energy, which operates the block with a 60 per cent interest. This acquisition enhances Mubadala Energy’s growth strategy in the Andaman Sea and offers significant new opportunities for exploration. “The successful bidding for the Central Andaman block is a key strategic development for us,” said Adnan Bu Fateem, COO at Mubadala Energy. “By leveraging our operational expertise and in-depth understanding of the basin, we are well-positioned to unlock the potential of both South and Central Andaman.” Image: Supplied Mubadala Energy completes appraisal of Layaran discovery In addition to the new license, the company completed the appraisal of the Layaran discovery in South Andaman, marking the safe conclusion of its drilling campaign.
