Mandarin Oriental signs Muscat hotel deal with Abu Dhabi’s Eagle Hills

The hotel and residences project is due to open in 2021

Hong Kong’s Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has announced a deal with Abu Dhabi developer Eagle Hills to manage a resort and residence complex in the Omani capital Muscat.

The hotel will feature 150 guest rooms and suites, five restaurants and bars, a spa, outdoor swimming pool and meeting and banqueting spaces for events.

Mandarin will also manage 155 private apartments ranging from 75 to 260 square metres.

The company said the development was located on the beach in a prime city location was expected to open in 2021.

“We are delighted to have the opportunity to expand our brand presence on the Arabian Peninsula with this exciting project in partnership with Eagle Hills,” said James Riley, group CEO of Mandarin Oriental.

Eagle Hills CEO Low Ping said the project, near Muscat’s Royal Opera House and Grand Mosque, was the developer’s first in Oman.

Last May, Madarin Oriental announced plans for a second hotel in Dubai inside the 63-floor mixed-use Wasl Tower on Sheikh Zayed Road.

The company previously signed a deal with Wasl Asset Management Group for a 256-room property on Jumeirah Beach that is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of this year.
