Dubai-backed Virgin Hyperloop One will premiere its Hyperloop ride experience at the US pavilion at Dubai Expo 2020 as part of a joint partnership, it was announced on Wednesday.

The announcement came during the design reveal of the US pavilion at the expo.

Showcasing the theme ‘What moves you? The spirit of mobility effort’, the pavilion has been designed by American architect Curtis W. Fentress and will showcase several ‘innovations’, a statement said.

The experiences within the area are currently being designed by Detroit-based design firm George P. Johnson Experiential Marketing.

“Today we’re looking at an Expo that is related to mobility, movement, travel, sustainability – things that are very important to the world today,” said Fentress.

“We have designed this building to be circular in form with slants fashioned to project a sensation of movement, making the viewer feel like the building itself is in motion. And then, once you enter the building, it opens up to what the United States stands for: We are an open, accessible country where you can live to create ideas. It showcases all the things we are doing in America: developing technology and concepts that are going to move us forward in the future.”

Pavilion USA 2020 – the consortium responsible for developing the country’s pavilion – confirmed that it has launched a multi-year global engagement campaign in preparation for the opening in October 2020.

It has also signed an agreement with AmCham Dubai, AmCham Abu Dhabi, and the US-UAE Business Council to promote the goal of engaging the private sector in the pavilion.

PepsiCo has also announced that the company will be a lead sponsor and official beverage partner of Pavilion USA 2020.

Along with innovations from the US, the pavilion will also showcase the nation’s cultural and social diversity through dance, music, theatre, literature, art, food and sport.

Japan, Finland, Oman, the UK and Germany are some of the other nations that have unveiled their pavilion designs in the recent months.

A total of 190 countries will participate in the event, which will be the first where all the participating countries have their own pavilion. The Expo will also see participation from companies, NGOs and educational institutions.

The expo is expected to attract 25 million visits, with 70 per cent of visitors projected to come from outside the UAE.
