Earlier this month, Honor announced the expansion of its X series portfolio by launching Honor X9 5G in the UAE. The smartphone is said to offer users fast charging capabilities, an ultra-large screen with super-narrow bezels, powerful performance and sleek and stylish design.

We got the phone for a hands-on review, and here’s what it looks like.

Design and display
The Honor X9 5G features 1.05mm super-narrow bezels that give a 94 per cent screen-to-body ratio for an immersive viewing experience. In addition, the smartphone weighs only 189g and has a 6.81-inch full view display, offering a full high definition of 2388×1080 pixels. As a result, users may enjoy beautiful visual effects, greater clarity, and true-to-life colours when watching movies, browsing images, or gaming.

Honor has also made a great effort to ensure enhanced eye care for users. The device has the brand’s Eye Comfort and TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light certifications. This reduces the amount of harmful blue light to ease eye strain and tiredness. It also modifies the screen to present warmer colours for a more comfortable experience, even after lengthy usage.

Performance and storage
The Honor X9 5G has superior memory capabilities and is packed with Honor’s RAM Turbo technology, which converts a small portion of ROM into RAM. Users will benefit from speedier loading times and a better online surfing experience due to this. The device is also equipped with 8GB RAM and 128GB ROM, as well as a massive storage capacity of 256GB, allowing customers to get the most out of the device.

Camera capabilities
The smartphone has a 48-megapixel triple camera, a 2-megapixel Bokeh camera, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. It also features an 8X digital zoom on the rear cameras and a 16MP sensor for selfies and video calls.

Battery life
The smartphone has a long-lasting 4800mAh battery, so users may use it without worrying about running out of power. The phone can be charged from zero to 50 per cent in 15 minutes and to 81 per cent in 30 minutes with the 66W supercharger. The Honor X9 5G boosts performance to the limit, with low power consumption and longer battery life. Even after 15 minutes of browsing social media or being on call, the Honor X9 5G still shows 100 per cent of the battery level.

Gaming
The newly released device is believed to be particularly intended as a gaming companion that uses the brand’s technologies to provide a more efficient smartphone experience. Users may game all day in rich virtual worlds thanks to the Snapdragon 695 5G Mobile Platform, a 6nm powerful processor supported by the Qualcomm Adreno GPU and Qualcomm Kryo 660 CPU. The GPU Turbo feature on the device further boosts performance by 30 per cent, allowing for a smoother gaming experience while using less power.

Pricing and availability
The Honor X9 5G, which runs Android 11 and has Google Mobile Services (GMS), will be available in the UAE starting May 27 in Titanium Silver and Midnight Black. The device, which comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage, costs Dhs1,099 and Dhs1,199, respectively.
