The Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) announced that financial institutions in the country will close for 9 days to mark the end of Ramadan and celebrate Eid Al-Fitr.

In a notification released earlier this year, SAMA announced that banks will be open for business from 10 am until 4 pm during the month of Ramadan.

Additionally, banks will shut for the Eid Al-Fitr holiday starting close of business on April 4, and resume work on April 14.

Schools announce Eid Al Fitr holiday

Furthermore, the kingdom’s education ministry has issued the holiday calendar for the upcoming festival of Eid Al Fitr.

Students in Saudi Arabia will enjoy a long holiday this year to mark Eid al-Fitr, as the third academic semester will end on Thursday, March 28, kicking off the Eid al-Fitr holiday.

The extended eid break will end on April 14 with classes scheduled to begin on Monday, April 15.

Eid al Fitr 2024 holiday

Since Saudi Arabia observes a Sunday to Thursday work week, the Eid Al Fitr holidays could see those working in the public and private sector get a holiday from Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 5. This corresponds to Monday, April 8 to Sunday April 13 in the Gregorian calendar.

Eid al Fitr marks the beginning of the Islamic month of Shawwal. It is celebrated on the first day following the holy month of Ramadan. Ramadan began on March 11 and is expected to be a 29-day month.

The exact dates of Eid al Fitr will be determined based on the sighting of the moon by an official committee closer to the end of Ramadan.
