Emaar is to broadcast its annual New Year’s Eve celebrations in Downtown Dubai live on Zoom this year.

Zoom says up to 50,000 people from around the world will be invited to tune-in and usher in 2021, on the first-ever New Year’s Eve celebration to be hosted on the video communications platform.

Emaar NYE 2021 will be live on Zoom from 8:30 pm GST (+4 GMT) onwards, featuring fireworks and a light and laser show.

“Zoom is proud and honored to take part in such a monumental event with Emaar, where our platform will allow people from all over the world to participate as we ring in a new year,” said Abe Smith, head of International at Zoom.

“In 2020, we were honored to help companies, schools, and families around the world stay connected through the disruption of the Covid-19 pandemic. We look forward to welcoming 2021 with hope and a feeling of unity.”

While the New Year’s Eve celebrations will be broadcast live, visitors interested in physically attending the show can still do so from the public viewing area on the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard. Additionally, the restaurants and hotels along the boulevard, Souk Al Bahar, Dubai Opera, and The Dubai Mall Promenade are available for dining reservations.

Emaar says its NYE 2021 celebrations will have several health and safety measures in place, including thermal cameras, social distancing, contactless payments, and frequent deep cleaning and disinfection, in line with Dubai Government guidelines and directives.
