Eid Al Fitr 2022: UAE announces holidays for federal government employees

The UAE has announced Eid Al Fitr holidays for federal government entities operating across the country.

The paid holidays for federal government employees will begin on Saturday, April 30 (29th of Ramadan) and end on Friday, May 6.

Work will resume on Monday, May 9, 2022.

Meanwhile, the Sharjah Directorate of Human Resources has also approved Eid al-Fitr holidays which are to start from Saturday, April 30 and last until Thursday, May 5, with work resuming on May 9, official news agency WAM reported.

Eid Al Fitr this year is, however, forecast to fall on May 2, according to the Emirates Astronomical Society.

Eid Al Fitr marks the first day of Shawwal – the month that comes after Ramadan in the Hijri calendar. The holy month of Ramadan began on April 2 this year.
