Dubai’s acquires delivery marketplace

Dubai-based e-commerce site has announced an agreement to purchase delivery marketplace

Souq said it had previously invested in Wing, which provides same and next day delivery services in the region, and would now be acquiring 100 per cent of the company.

“Fast dependable delivery is key to this, and provides customers with more convenience for their same and next day delivery. With Amazon’s support, we are putting all our efforts in providing an ever-improving shopping experience for customers in the Middle East.”

The acquisition is believed to be the first the e-commerce site had made since being bought by Amazon in a deal estimated to be worth $650m.

The site has since integrated its account system with Amazon’s and begun offering some Amazon products.
