RTA instant passenger driver permit

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has announced an initiative to simplify the process of obtaining permits for professional passenger transport drivers.

In a move aimed at enhancing efficiency and convenience, RTA is now offering instant passenger transport driver permits, eliminating the previous 24-hour waiting period for approval.

Digital transformation for permits

This initiative is part of RTA’s broader digital transformation strategy for permits and extends its benefits to taxi drivers, luxury vehicle drivers, and school bus drivers, among others.

Sultan Al Akraf, director of Driver Affairs at RTA’s Public Transport Agency, highlighted the importance of this step. He said, “The aim of the new digital permits is to bring happiness to customers through offering services that save their time and efforts.”

Easy steps for obtaining instant passenger transport driver permit

Securing a digital permit is straightforward. Here’s how it works:

Affiliated company application: The affiliated company must begin the permit application process on the RTA website and pay the relevant permit fee.

Driver pre-registration: The driver, on the other hand, needs to install the “Dubai Drive” app on their smart devices. Within the app, they must complete the pre-registration process.

Instant digital permit: Once the affiliated company completes the application procedures, the driver is instantly issued a digital permit through the RTA-Dubai Drive app. This user-friendly app is accessible on all types of smart devices through iOS and Android.

Aligned with the Smart City vision

This strategic move aligns perfectly with Dubai’s Smart City initiative and RTA’s third strategic goal of assuring “People Happiness.”  Al Akraf stressed that the primary objective of introducing digital permits for professional passenger transport drivers and school transport attendants is to enhance customer satisfaction by providing services that save time and effort.

By streamlining the permit process and offering instant approvals, RTA said it is not only contributing to the Smart City vision but also ensuring the well-being and satisfaction of both drivers and passengers in Dubai’s bustling transportation sector.

RTA’s initiative is another step in its efforts to lead the way in creating a more efficient, technology-driven, and customer-centric transport ecosystem. It had recently announced the launch of automating the process of issuing supplementary information sign permits.
