Abu Dhabi: 8 hour-long road closure for ADNOC marathon on Saturday

The ITC has released details of the closure that will follow the path of the marathon

Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) has announced road closures starting midnight on Saturday as the city hosts the annual ADNOC marathon.

The city is expected to witness over 23,000 runners at the event, including some of the world’s elite athletes, according to a statement released earlier this year.

Abu Dhabi road closures

The ITC, in its notification, said that certain sections of the King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street will be closed from midnight until 7:30 am on Saturday. Additionally, Corniche Street will also be off limits from 2 am until 2 pm on December 16.

Abu Dhabi’s Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street will close from 3 am until 9 am, following which the marathon route moves to Sheikh Rashid Bin Saaed Street, which will close to the public in phases between 4 am and noon.

Partial closure

Al Saada Bridge

Abu Dhabi’s Al Saada Bridge will have partial closures on four consecutive weekends, throughout December. The closures will last until the end of the month.

The project will be divided into four phases, each lasting a weekend, and will affect traffic in both directions.

Al Ain

The area of Al Ain will see Baniyas and Al Falah Streets in Hilli closed for over three weeks starting Saturday, December 9 until Sunday, December 31.
