Oracle to make 1,000 sales hires this year after opening UAE, Saudi offices

US computer technology firm Oracle has announced plans to recruit 1,000 new sales representatives across Europe, the Middle East and Africa this year.

The new hires at intended to support the growth of the company’s cloud computing business and come after it announced plans in 2016 to open new offices in Saudi Arabia and the UAE and a cloud data centre in Abu Dhabi.

The company recently posted a 58 per cent increase in cloud revenue to $1.4bn for it 2016 financial year.

Vice president of Oracle Cloud in the EMEA region, Tino Scholman, said: “Our cloud business is growing at incredible rates, so now is the right time to bring in a new generation of talent to our company.”

The firm said potential candidates must have two years of working experience and currently work in human resources, marketing, recruitment, finance, supply chain or sales roles.

The public cloud market in EMEA is expected to grow 26 per cent this year to more than $20bn.
