McDonald’s UAE announced that it has opened its sixth restaurant at Dubai Airports at the newly launched Concourse D in Terminal 1.

The 310 square-metre store features self-ordering kiosks and interactive technologies such as a digital menu board and a projector for kids.

The store increases the total number of McDonald’s outlets in the United Arab Emirates to 138.

McDonald’s UAE general manager Walid Fakih said: “As our customers will be passengers on the go, we strategically introduced this concept in this location, in order to serve them better. We hope to continually improve our customers’ ordering and dining experience.”

The new $1.2bn Concourse D opened at Dubai International late last month, increasing the airport’s capacity from 75 million to 90 million. It will cater to 70 international airlines.

Spread across 150,000 square metres, the new facility includes several food and beverage options including The Kitchen – a casual dining concept offering dishes from celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck, the first Pret a Manger in a Middle East airport and the region’s first Camden Food Company outlet.

Other options include YO! Sushi, Sharwarmanji, Taqado Mexican Kitchen, Masale by Taste of India, Giraffe, Starbucks, KFC, Krispy Kreme, Brioche Doree, The Noodle House, Cavier House & Prunier, Draft House sports bar, Butlers Chocolate Café, CNN News Cafe and Costa Coffee.

In terms of retail, Dubai Duty Free has a total of 175 vendor installations in Concourse D spread over an area of 7,000 sqm.

The new facility will also have nine lounges spread over 6,926 sqm.
