Home GCC UAE Japan eases entry restrictions for UAE passport holders The changes give free entry to UAE passport holders by Staff Writer June 19, 2017 Japan has announced the easing of entry restrictions for UAE passport holders from July 1. Emiratis with diplomatic and special passports on official mission in Japan are no longer required to get a pre-entry visa if they can’t specify their length of stay. The same passport holders can also enter Japan without a pre-entry visa for tourism or business for a maximum period of 90 days. A second memorandum of understanding allows normal UAE passport holders seeking travel to Japan for tourism, business and official reasons to obtain a free electronic sticker in their travel documents at the Japanese Embassy in Abu Dhabi, the General Consulate of Japan in Dubai or any diplomatic or representative office of Japan. This will allow passport holders to register their date of entry into Japan and stay for a maximum of 30 days. HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation said the new rules highlight efforts by both countries to strengthen mutual opportunities for citizens.
