Home GCC Bahrain Investcorp Acquires UK Education Group The Bahraini investment group has taken over the GL Education Group, a UK-based education solutions provider. by Aarti Nagraj March 19, 2012 Bahrain’s Investcorp announced that it has acquired UK’s GL Education Group (GLE), which provides pupil assessment solutions for primary and secondary schools, for an undisclosed sum. The investment firm acquired GLE from Veronis Suhler Stevenson, a private equity and debt capital firm focusing on service industries in Europe and North America. London-based GLE provides assessment products and services used by teachers to measure students’ core abilities. The company includes two business units, GL Assessment and GL Performance, which deliver tools to around 15,000 schools. “We believe GLE has a huge growth potential in the UK and globally and are excited to be part of its future successes,” Mohammed Al Shroogi, Investcorp’s president for Gulf Business said in a statement. The Bahraini firm has been making many international acquisitions this year; last week, Investcorp announced that its US-based real estate arm acquired a portfolio of mixed-use commercial real estate properties in the Northern San Francisco Bay Area for approximately $65 million.
