Emirates Airline has started a non-stop, daily service between Dubai and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, it announced on Monday.

An Airbus 330-200 with 27 business class seats and 251 economy class seats will initially service the route.

“Ho Chi Minh City is recognised as the commercial capital of Vietnam, a country that has one of the fastest growing economies in Asia and that is why we have chosen this time to add Ho Chi Minh City to our rapidly expanding network,” said Thierry Antinori, Emirates’ executive vice president.

“We look forward to opening up a wealth of opportunities in Vietnam for business and leisure travellers from the six continents that our passengers join our flights from,” he added.

According to the UAE Embassy in Vietnam, bilateral trade between the two countries exceeded $1.2 billion in 2011.

Ho Chi Minh City is the airline’s eighth route launch in 2012, and follows Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, Dublin, Lusaka, Harare, Dallas and Seattle.
