Home Transport Aviation Emirates cancels Houston flights due to heavy floods Flights EK211 and EK212 have been cancelled by Aarti Nagraj August 31, 2017 Emirates has confirmed that its flights to Houston on Thursday, August 31 and Friday, September 1 have been cancelled due to hurricane Harvey. “The operations of Emirates flights EK211 from Dubai to Houston and EK212 from Houston to Dubai on the August 31 and September 1 are cancelled due to Hurricane Harvey,” a statement said. “We are monitoring the situation closely, and aim to give customers as much notice as possible if there are any further changes to our operations,” it added. Passengers holding tickets to/from Houston can contact their local Emirates office and check the status of their flight on the website. Houston’s two airports – Hobby and Bush – were closed due to flooding, but opened for limited services on Wednesday evening. They hope to be fully operational by the weekend. Hurricane Harvey has now weakened to a tropical depression, but flooding and record rains have killed over 30 people and displaced thousands from their homes. According to the National Hurricane Center, “catastrophic and life threatening flooding” will continue in and around Houston, Beaumont/Port Arthur, eastward into southwest Louisiana. 0 Comments
