Home Industry Real Estate Dubai’s Nakheel breaks ground on Dhs713m Dragon Towers project The residential project is due for completion in 2021 by Aarti Nagraj October 22, 2018 Dubai developer Nakheel has started work on its Dhs713m ($194m) Dragon Towers project located in the Dragon City mixed-use community. The twin-building project, located on the Al Awir Road, is the first residential component at Dragon City and the only high-rise in the area. The ground-breaking took place a month after Nakheel awarded a contract for Dhs552m to UAE-based Ali Mousa & Sons Contracting to build the project. The project comprises two 37-storey buildings each with 571 one- and two-bedroom apartments. Floor areas range from 624 sq ft to 937 sq ft and the units come with kitchen appliances, fitted wardrobes, parking and on-site security and key card entry system. There are also two floors of retail space, four parking levels and a sixth-floor podium level Clubhouse with a 25-metre swimming pool, children’s pool, restaurant, gym and tennis court. Dragon Towers is also connected by a covered bridge to Dragon Mart, which includes 5,000 shops and amenities, including a 12-screen cinema, supermarket and dining outlets. Nakheel launched units for sale last month, with prices starting from Dhs449,000. The project is due for completion in 2021. Dragon Towers is a part of the 11 million sq ft Dragon City project, a mixed-use master development that currently features Dragon Mart mall and Dragon Mart 2 – a Dhs1bn complex which opened in 2015, doubling the size of the original retail hub to more than 3.5 million sq ft. The third phase of the project – nearing completion – will include a retail showroom with 18 units and a multi-storey car park for 900 vehicles – originally slated to open this year. Nakheel said in 2016 that all of the 118,000 sq ft of leasing space had been booked. Dragon City also includes two hotels – a 251-room ibis Styles that opened in February 2016 and a 304-room Premier Inn which will open in 2019. 0 Comments
