A new shopping promotion is set to be launched in Dubai – the National Day Sale – under a retail initiative introduced by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism).

The UAE’s National Day falls on December 2.

The National Day Sale will be held from December 1 – 3 and participating malls and retail outlets will offer shoppers discounts of between 30 – 90 per cent on selected items, a statement said.

The sale will run across a range of home-grown and international brands, featuring a variety of merchandise.

Registration for retailers to run promotions during the National Day Sale began on November 13 and will continue until November 29, DFRE said.

The registration centres are located at the Emirates Professional Business Centre (Al Twar Centre), Twasol Businessmen Service Centre (Al Muraqabbat Road), ITQAN Businessmen Service Centre (Opposite Mulla Plaza) and Afaq Centre at The Dubai Mall.

A traditional hub for shopping, Dubai runs a range of shopping sales and promotions throughout the year.

The most popular is the Dubai Shopping Festival, which is set to run from December 26, 2016 to January 28, 2017 in its next season.

In recent years, spend by regional and international visitors during the month-long event has amounted to an average of Dhs15bn, according to DFRE.
