France’s AccorHotels has signed a management agreement with Acropole Holdings for a new Novotel hotel in Downtown Dubai.

Construction of the property, which is located on Burj Khalifa Street, will begin in February 2017.

Accor said the 266-room hotel would offer an upper-midscale option in an area with largely upscale and luxury options.

Facilities will include five food and beverage outlets comprising an all-day dining restaurant, sports bar, rooftop lounge bar and lobby café.

There will also be meeting rooms, a swimming pool, health club and spa.

“I am certain that through our expertise in the hospitality industry combined with Acropole Holdings’ vast experience across a number of real estate development projects in the Middle East and Africa; we will be able to create a unique and differentiated offering for guests looking for greater options and variety in the Downtown Dubai area,” said Olivier Granet, managing director and COO AccorHotels Middle East.

Novotel Downtown Dubai is expected to open prior to Expo 2020 and will cater to business and leisure travellers.

It will be among the first Novotels in the region to feature the N’Room concept featuring bed, furniture and entertainment system improvements.

Accor currently has five other Novotels in operation and in the pipeline in Dubai.

Its wider Middle East portfolio comprises 87 hotels with 26,300 rooms with a further 80 hotels and 24,000 rooms under development

Earlier this year, Accor completed its acquisition of FRHI, placing all Fairmont Raffles hotels in the region under its management.
