Gulf Air To Fly To Dubai World Central From December

Gulf Air hopes its new daily evening service will appeal to ‘new Dubai’ residents

Gulf Business

Dubai Airports today confirmed that Bahrain’s Gulf Air has signed a memorandum of understanding to become the first full-service network carrier to fly into Al Maktoum International at Dubai World Central (DWC).

Gulf Air plans to operate a daily evening service linking DWC to its home base in Bahrain from December 8.

The carrier, which already operates 51 flights per week into Dubai International, said it is targeting travellers who value the new airport’s “convenience and proximity to new Dubai”.

It’s a significant move for both parties, providing DWC with its first major regional airline and shows Gulf Air has confidence in the new airport’s potential – although the bulk of its flights will continue to fly into Dubai International.

Gulf Air will operate its new A320-Extended Range (ER) aircraft on all of it its flights between Bahrain International Airport and DWC and offer flatbed seats in Falcon Gold Class.

DWC, whose passenger terminal building is due to open on October 27, contains one A380 capable runway, 64 remote aircraft stands and has capacity for up to seven million passengers per year.
