UAE’s non-oil trade totals Dhs1.603 trillion in 2019

The UAE’s non-oil trade in 2019 grew 4.4 per cent from Dhs1.536 trillion in 2018

The UAE’s non-oil trade in 2019 grew 4.4 per cent to Dhs1.603 trillion, compared to Dhs1.536 trillion in 2018, official news agency WAM reported.

The figures that were revealed by the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority (FCSA) suggested that all non-oil-related trade indexes in the UAE improved in 2019, led by the export and re-export trade indices, with the latter amounting to Dhs457.4bn against Dhs431.55bn in 2018, accounting for 28.5 per cent of total foreign trade.

Exports comprised 14.4 per cent of the total trade volume, up from Dhs206bn to Dhs231.23bn during the reference period while imports grew from around Dhs898.37bn to Dhs914.8bn, or 58 per cent of the total foreign trade.

The Asia and Pacific Ocean region led the list of the country’s non-oil trade partners.

China came first with a total trade exchange volume of Dhs184.15bn in 2019, followed by India at Dhs152bn.

Saudi Arabia maintained a trade exchange of Dhs113.25bn, followed by the US (Dhs96.56bn), Switzerland (Dhs65.2bn) and Oman (Dhs55.4bn).

The trade volume with Iraq reached Dhs53.75bn, while it amounted to Dhs48bn with Japan, Dhs44.7bn with Germany and Dhs38.88bn with Kuwait.
