UAE President receives Prime Minister of Singapore in Abu Dhabi

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received Lee Hsien Loong, Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore, who is on an official visit to the UAE, on October 22.

An official reception ceremony was held in honour of the Prime Minister’s arrival at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi, the state news agency, WAM, reported.

UAE-Singapore: Building stronger ties

Sheikh Mohamed escorted the Prime Minister of Singapore to the dais, where the national anthems of both countries were played.

A traditional welcome was extended to mark the leader’s visit. This included a 21-gun salute, while members of the honour guard stood in formation.

The Singaporean Prime Minister arrived in the country earlier for an official visit scheduled over several days, accompanied by a delegation including various ministers and senior officials.

He met with Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance. The meeting, held at Za’abeel Palace, was attended by Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, and several ministers and senior officials.

During the meeting, the two sides emphasised the importance of exchanging expertise and best practices in key fields like investment, trade and tourism.

The two sides also touched on the prospects for greater UAE-Singapore ties within the framework of expanding GCC-ASEAN cooperation.

Other topics discussed included the UAE’s hosting of the 2023 UN Climate Change Conference (COP28).
