UAE leaders mourn passing of President Sheikh Khalifa

Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan passed away on May 13, at age 73

Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, has passed away on Friday, May 13, aged 73.

Leaders across the UAE offered their condolences and mourned the loss of a visionary leader.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and younger brother to the Late President, took to Twitter to mourn the loss. “The Emirates lost its righteous son, the leader of the “empowerment stage…..Khalifa bin Zayed, my brother, my mentor and my teacher, may God have mercy on you,” he tweeted.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, also offered his condolences. “Oh God, his people have been satisfied with him.. so be pleased with him.. and cover him with your mercy.”

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, took to social media to share his commiserations. “It is not easy to mourn a leader the size of a nation and a man who spent his life in the elevation of his people and the glory of his country.”

Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, too expressed his condolences.

Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, also took to Twitter to share his grief. “With sincere hearts satisfied with the decree of God and his destiny, we bid farewell today to a believing leader, an inspiring president, an advising brother and a teacher.”
