UAE: Emaar, Nakheel cancel community events; Culture Summit Abu Dhabi 2023 postponed

In light of recent global events, some concerts, conferences and shows in Dubai and Abu Dhabi have been postponed.

Cancelled events include those being organised by master developers such as Emaar and Nakheel for their residential communities.

Emaar cancels events in Dubai

Emaar has cancelled community events and festivities due to the “current global situation” and “ongoing challenges faced by our global community”.

In a letter shared with residents in its communities, the Emaar Community Management team said events and festivities would be halted until further notice.

The message sent to Emaar residents read, “Please be informed that an important decision has been made regarding the upcoming community events and festivities.

“Due to the current global situation and the ongoing challenges faced by our global community, we have decided to cancel the upcoming community events until further announcement.

“We understand that our community events are cherished occasions for many, especially our younger residents, and this decision was not taken lightly.

“Our thoughts are with those who are affected by the recent events, and we stand with them during these difficult times.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this cancellation may cause, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation during these extraordinary circumstances.” For more information, residents were asked to contact Emaar at 800 EMAAR (36227).

Nakheel cancels events

Dubai-developer Nakheel also announced the cancellation of events in its communities.

Nakheel’s community management team referred to the “current global situation and the impact of this on the global community,” as the reason for the cancellation.

“We understand many of you look forward to these community events and we appreciate your support on this decision.

“Our thoughts are with those affected by the recent events, and we stand in solidarity with them during these challenging times,” Nakheel said, adding “we regret any inconvenience that these cancellations may cause and we thank you for your understanding given these extraordinary circumstances.”

Culture Summit Abu Dhabi 2023 postponed

This year’s Culture Summit Abu Dhabi, which was scheduled to begin on Sunday, has been postponed.

The annual event, was scheduled to be held from Sunday to Tuesday.

“We appreciate the understanding and support of all participants and stakeholders. A new date will be communicated as soon as possible. We look forward to convening soon to exchange ideas and identify ways in which culture can transform societies and communities worldwide,” Culture Summit Abu Dhabi posted on social media as well as its website.

The three-day event, in its sixth edition, was set to include speeches, panel discussions and musical performances, where invited speakers exchange ideas and knowledge with an aim to inspire global change.
