The UAE has announced that Thursday, October 21, will be a public holiday for federal government employees to commemorate Prophet Mohammad’s birthday.

The holiday has been ‘carried over’ to Thursday, giving federal employees a long weekend, the Federal Authority For Government Human Resources announced on Sunday.

The birthday of Prophet Mohammad is observed on the 12th day of Rabi Al Awwal, the third month in the Islamic calendar.

The date of the public holiday is yet to be confirmed for private sector employees, although it is anticipated to be held on the same day.
