UAE announces public sector holiday for Prophet Mohammad’s birthday

The UAE has announced that Thursday, October 29, will be a public holiday for federal government employees to commemorate Prophet Mohammad’s birthday.

This will mean a three-day weekend, with work resuming on Sunday, November 1.

 

The birthday of Prophet Mohammad is observed on the 12th day of Rabi Al Awwal, the third month in the Islamic calendar.

All licenced venues in Dubai will have to refrain from serving alcohol between 5.30pm on Wednesday, October 28 until 6.30pm on Thursday, October 29 to mark the birth anniversary.

There will also be no entertainment or parties during this period.
