Qatar urged its citizens to leave the UAE within 14 days to comply with a decision by the country to sever ties with Doha, the Qatari embassy in Abu Dhabi said on Twitter.

“Qatari citizens must leave the UAE within 14 days, in accordance with the statement issued by the concerned Emirati parties,” the embassy tweeted.

Authorities in the UAE have indicated that land, sea and air ports will be closed to traffic coming in and out of Qatar within 24 hours.

Those who cannot travel directly to Doha should go through Kuwait or Oman, the embassy said.

“For the citizens of Qatar who do not have the ability to buy tickets, the embassy will bear their travel through the Omani airlines in case of departure within the time limit,” it added.

All the UAE airlines including Emirates, Etihad, flydubai and Air Arabia have confirmed that they will be suspending flights to Doha from Tuesday.

Qatar Airways has not yet publicly announced whether its flights to the Emirates will be suspended.
