The Zubair Corporation (TZC), one of the consignment family-owned businesses in Oman, has partnered with global technology company SAP to power its group-wide digital transformation.

As part of its new business strategy, the group will implement latest innovations including SAP S/4HANA, SuccessFactor, the core offering of Rise with SAP and more.

TZC has a large number of subsidiaries in a variety of industries, including arts and heritage, automotive, oil exploration and production, education, energy and logistics, financial services, manufacturing, real estate and hospitality, as well as engineering, construction, and contracting. The organisation needed a holistic solution to handle real-time business insights and bridge communication gaps across its subsidiaries due to the size and extent of its portfolio.

By moving to S/4HANA and Rise with SAP, TZC will benefit from solutions to simplify complex business processes, while the full suite of solutions from SuccessFactors will enable comprehensive management of day-to-day employee requirements and talent growth. The overall digital transformation will be spread across multiple phases, with the first phase focusing primarily on The Zubair Corporation’s headquarters and a select group of companies in its portfolio.

Al Zubair M Al Zubair, vice chairman, The Zubair Corporation commented: “Based on our digital transformation and business development strategies, SAP was the right choice to partner with, given the company’s global industry experience and knowledge of the regional landscape. We are confident that SAP innovations will enable TZC to become a more unified, automated and agile enterprise, delivering measurable business benefits and creating opportunities for further growth”.

Sergio Maccotta, senior vice president, Middle East South, SAP, said: “As one of the largest and most diverse businesses in Oman, we are proud to be helping The Zubair Corporation in their strategic digital transformation, which we firmly believe will play a major role in achieving the Sultanate’s 2030 vision to boost the economy and prosperity of the Omani society.”

Abdullah Al Balushi, board advisor and Digital Transformation Executive Sponsor, The Zubair Corporation added: “The diversified nature of the business portfolio of the Corporation and the complex legacy IT infrastructure created a critical need for centralised IT solution such as SAP ERP, with specific ERP module and application targeting specific business functions within The Zubair Corporation. We are looking forward to the efficiencies and productivity created by this digital transformation initiative, and the benefits it bring to the corporation, business unites and Zubair employees, as well as our clients, customers and suppliers.”

Waheed Al Hamaid, country manager, SAP Oman added: “Creating centralised HR and communications functions within the organisation, increasing their organisational resilience and being a part of their future growth are among the prospects that are most exciting to SAP in our work with The Zubair Corporation.”

The Zubair Corporation, established in 1967 as Muscat Trading Company by Mohammad Al Zubair, employs thousands of people in a variety of industries both in Oman and throughout the world.
