Slated to open in early 2027, W Al Marjan Island will not only be Marriott International’s second hospitality venture on the island, but also as W Hotel’s first property in Ras Al Khaimah. It will feature an inventory of 300 hotel rooms and suites with sea views. Signature spaces will include the Living Room, WET deck, W Lounge, AWAY Spa, and FIT fitness centre along with three restaurants and retail spaces. Abdulla Al Abdouli, chief executive officer of Marjan, said, “We are confident that this addition to our portfolio will not only raise the bar on regional hospitality but also set a new global benchmark, further reinforcing the northern emirate’s destination appeal.” This year, Ras Al Khaimah witnessed its highest ever half-yearly visitor numbers. Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority said that 600,000 visitors came to the northern emirate in the UAE between January and June 2023, a 14.8 per cent increase over H1 2022. Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah has white sand beaches stretching over 7.8km and a 23km waterfront. It currently houses 3,000 hotel rooms. The first Marriott International property for Al Marjan Island was signed in May this year with UAE-based real estate developer, Three Musketeers Hospitality. That agreement will result in the opening of Le Méridien Al Marjan Island Resort and Spa in 2026 which will feature 350 keys. Other projects confirmed for the island include a Grand Millennium Resort, Danah Bay, which will include 300 rooms. It is expected to open in Q4 2025. However, one of the most high-profile properties planned for the island is Wynn Al Marjan Island. Set to welcome its first guests in 2027, the resort is Wynn’s first-ever beachfront resort and its first offering in the Middle East too.
