Kempinski Checks Out Of Bahrain Mall

Majid Al Futtaim plans to introduce a brace of brands in the two towers which connect with the shopping centre

Kempinski Hotels is dropping its management contract for the 450-room Kempinski Grand & Ixir Hotel Bahrain City Centre on June 30 after a two-and-a-half year tenure.

George Kostas, CEO, Majid Al Futtaim – Properties, said changing market requirements means it wants to pursue a two brand strategy for the dual tower in Manama, which connects with the shopping mall.

“We believe the new strategy is better aligned with the product and the market demand, and will maximise the yield of the two towers. We will announce the new brands in due course,” he said.

The centrally located hotel is a 15-minute drive from Bahrain International Airport and 20-minute drive from the Bahrain International Circuit.

Reto Wittwer, president and CEO of Kempinski Hotels, said it will continue to work with Majid Al Futtaim in other cities, notably the Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates in Dubai.
