The partnership will focus on delivering OpenAI’s generative AI (GenAI) models across sectors spanning financial services to energy and healthcare. OpenAI will work with G42 to accelerate the solution development process, ensuring that organisations can best leverage the power of generative AI in their specific use cases. “At the core of our mission lies the pursuit of AI as a transformative force for good, fueling innovation and progress. Our partnership with OpenAI transcends technological synergy; it’s a convergence of value and vision,” said Peng Xiao, G42 group CEO. “We are excited to join OpenAI on the journey to shape a future where AI benefits all of humanity.” Through solutions built by G42, organisations in the UAE and broader Middle East region will be able to simplify the process of integrating these advanced AI capabilities into their existing enterprise landscapes, unlocking the potential of OpenAI’s models. To drive this expansion across the entire region, significant AI-ready infrastructure is imperative. G42 said it will prioritise its substantial AI infrastructure capacity to support OpenAI’s local and regional inferencing on Microsoft Azure data centres. “Leveraging G42’s industry expertise, we aim to empower businesses and communities with effective solutions that resonate with the nuances of the region. This collaboration lays the foundation for equitable advancements in generative AI across the globe,” said Sam Altman, co-founder and CEO of OpenAI. The two entities will continue to explore ways to accelerate GenAI innovation and adoption globally. G42’s efforts in the field of generative AI are currently on full display at GITEX Global in Dubai where its portfolio companies are showcasing a wide range of offerings that span across multiple industries. G42 accelerates Abu Dhabi AI push Meanwhile, G42 has been at the forefront of the UAE’s push into AI. The artificial intelligence firm’s subsidiary Inception unveiled “Jais”, an advanced Arabic language software that can power generative AI applications in August. Jais is a 13-billion parameter model trained on a newly developed 395-billion-token Arabic and English dataset, a portion of which is from computer code. Its release marks a significant milestone in the realm of AI for the Arabic world. G42 partnered with Cerebras Systems, which recently built the first of nine AI supercomputers as an alternative to systems using Nvidia technology. The AI behemoth joined forces with Microsoft in September as part of a broader strategy to enable access to sovereign cloud offerings, and innovate and deliver advanced AI capabilities, while growing the existing data centre infrastructure in the UAE.
