Low cost carrier flydubai will now fly daily to Bucharest after announcing two new flights a week to the Romanian capital.
The move follows year-on-year passenger traffic growth on the route, which is particularly popular for business class travellers, according to the airline.
“Since the launch of our Bucharest route in 2012, we have witnessed increasing demand from GCC passengers visiting the city and Romanian expatriates using our hub in Dubai to connect and visit family and friends around the world,” said airline chief executive Ghaith Al Ghaith.
Flydubai commercial senior vice president Jeyhun Efendi said popular connections for passengers from Bucharest included Colombo, Delhi, Kuwait, Male’, Mumbai and Zanzibar.
Economy class tickets on the route will start from Dhs 1,300, with business class starting at Dhs 4,235
The airline recently introduced WiFi connectivity and live television on selected flights for the first time.
It currently serves a network of 85 destinations with a fleet of 50 Boeing 737-800s and plans to take delivery of more than 100 aircraft by the end of 2023.
