It becomes the first UAE national carrier to operate direct flights to EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg (BSL). The service will commence on August 2 and feature four flights a week. The announcement also marks the carrier’s first entry into the Baltic region with direct flights to Riga International Airport (RIX) in Latvia, commencing on October 11 with three flights a week. The carrier will operate three flights a week to both Tallinn Airport (TLL) in Estonia and Vilnius International Airport (VNO) in Lithuania, starting from October 12. flydubai grows European network With the new launches, the carrier’s network in Europe has grown to 43 destinations in 21 countries. Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO at flydubai, said: “We are proud to see our network grow bigger than ever with the new route launches. We have created a diverse network of 126 destinations, 60 per cent of which previously had very limited or no connections to Dubai. “Our new services to the Baltic region and Basel will enable more people to travel conveniently through Dubai’s aviation hub, whether they are visiting Dubai or connecting conveniently onto the flydubai network or further afield with our codeshare partner Emirates.” In other news, flydubai launched daily flights to both Penang and Langkawi in Malaysia, with the flights officially commencing on February 10. This strategic move opens doors for cultural exchange and economic opportunities, benefitting both travellers and the Southeast Asian region. This debut, coinciding with the first day of Chinese New Year, saw water cannon salutes and warm welcomes at both Penang International Airport (PEN) and Langkawi International Airport (LGK).
