Founded in 2023, MDR Investments is the investment arm of Maser Group, established to pursue opportunities across technology, infrastructure and capital-intensive industries. Led by founder and CEO Prateek Suri, an entrepreneur with more than two decades of experience in the technology sector and a background in consumer electronics, the firm has developed an investment strategy spanning emerging technologies and large-scale physical infrastructure
Its investment mandate covers frontier artificial intelligence (AI), large-capital ventures, roads and infrastructure projects, natural-resource mining, startups and private equity. AI forms a central part of the investment strategy, with MDR exploring frontier technologies including artificial general intelligence and neuromorphic computing, alongside AI applications addressing areas such as healthcare access, education and environmental sustainability.
The investment thesis extends well beyond technology. MDR plans to deploy patient capital into mining and infrastructure projects, particularly across Africa, where natural resources, economic development and infrastructure expansion continue to create investment opportunities. That diversification is also reflected in Emarald, a UAE-based building materials venture within the wider Maser Group portfolio and backed by MDR Investments. With an initial focus on the Gulf, Emarald operates across the building and construction materials sector, including waterproofing solutions, structural steel, plywood and other materials. The venture adds another dimension to MDR’s exposure to the physical supply chains supporting construction, real estate and infrastructure development.
Shipping and logistics, real estate and road construction also form part of MDR’s investment focus. The firm has expanded its areas of interest to satellite and space-related projects, with potential applications spanning connectivity, climate monitoring, agriculture and orbital infrastructure. The luxury yacht sector represents another area being explored, including manufacturing and design, chartering, brokerage, fractional ownership and related services.
Across these sectors, MDR follows a partnership-driven model that combines capital investment with operational and strategic support for founders and businesses. MDR’s investment interests extend across the UAE, African continent, UK, Europe and Asia, reflecting an approach that combines opportunities in established markets with the growth potential of emerging economies. Its founding team brings more than 100 years of collective experience across technology, investing and business development. That experience underpins a broader strategy built around two complementary tracks: backing emerging technologies and entrepreneurial businesses while deploying longer-term capital into infrastructure, mining and other large ventures.
