From a cybersecurity threat landscape, cyberthreats are likely to increase across several fronts. State-sponsored cyber operations – including APT groups and hacktivists – often become more active, targeting government networks, critical infrastructure, and high-value industrial or financial systems to conduct cyber espionage or cause disruption.

At the same time, opportunistic attackers and scammers take advantage of the instability by launching conflict-themed phishing campaigns and scams, primarily aimed at deceiving users into revealing sensitive information such as login credentials, financial details, or other personal data.

Simultaneously, efforts to spread AI-generated misinformation, fake news, and fabricated videos aimed at influencing public perception and increase division may emerge.

Amid these growing and diverse risks, Kaspersky experts continue to closely monitor the evolving threat landscape, and respond accordingly to secure our clients, partners, and the society at large.

Companies need to rigorously assess their exposure to risks of system and data unavailability. Past conflicts demonstrate that disruptions – from power outages impacting internet service to destructive wiper malware causing data loss – can have cascading consequences for business continuity. The approach should be to ‘hope for the best, but plan for the worst.

Looking ahead, we expect the coming weeks to be characterised by continued uncertainty. We are observing a divergence in preparedness; some organisations are adopting a short-term, reactive stance, while others are proactively investing in long-term resilience.

Regionally, we see pockets of strength in markets that have prioritised supply chain diversification, invested in robust local infrastructure, and fostered strong cybersecurity practices. These markets are demonstrating a greater capacity to absorb shocks and maintain operational stability.
