Turkish Airlines has announced a major overhaul of its executive leadership structure, appointing a new chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) as part of efforts to align governance with its long-term growth strategy.
Under the changes, Prof. Murat Şeker has been appointed chairman of the board of directors and executive committee, while Ahmet Olmuştur has been named chief executive officer (CEO).
The restructuring reflects Turkish Airlines’ focus on strengthening governance, operational efficiency and global competitiveness as it continues to expand its international footprint.
Prof. Şeker brings extensive financial and institutional experience to the Chairman role, having previously served as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the airline since 2016. In that role, he oversaw financing, treasury operations, procurement and investor relations.
He has also been a member of the airline’s Board and Executive Committee since 2021 and currently serves on the boards of Turkish Technic and SunExpress.
Beyond the airline, Prof. Şeker has held senior roles at the World Bank and Ziraat Bank, and has been actively involved with the International Air Transport Association (IATA), where he has served on the Financial Advisory Council since 2024 and as its Chair since 2025.

Internal promotion to CEO
Ahmet Olmuştur, who previously served as chief commercial officer (CCO), has been promoted to chief executive officer, marking a continuation of Turkish Airlines’ strategy of elevating internal leadership talent.

Olmuştur has more than two decades of experience at the airline, having joined in 2000 and progressed through roles in revenue management, pricing, sales and marketing.
He has played a key role in shaping the airline’s commercial strategy, including route network planning, customer experience initiatives and the development of the Miles&Smiles loyalty programme.
Since 2014, he has led marketing and sales functions, and most recently oversaw global commercial operations as CCO.
The airline said the new leadership structure is designed to support its ambitions to further strengthen its position in global aviation, backed by a focus on sustainable growth, strong human capital and a passenger-centric service model.
Turkish Airlines, which operates one of the world’s largest international route networks, aims to build on its market leadership through enhanced strategic execution under the new management team.
