A real estate job advertisement in Dubai has gained attention, all for the wrong reasons.

Selling real estate in Dubai’s booming property market is proving to be one of the most in-demand jobs at the moment.

However, a job ad asking for female candidates, of any nationality, to “strategically leverage dating apps” to seal property deals has left many in the emirate up in arms.

The advertisement, which was originally hosted on jobs website Naukri Gulf, found its way onto a Reddit post, and caused a stir for all the wrong reasons.

Amid Khaleej Times reporting on the controversial advertisement, the advert was removed from the Naukri Gulf website.

While it was still online, the job ad stipulated how it was looking for a female candidate who could “strategically leverage dating apps to identify and connect with potential real estate clients.”

As part of the job descriptions, candidates were also expected to “stay up to date on the latest trends and best practices using dating apps for lead generation.”

Industry experts have slammed the advert, with Sofia Stavrakoglou, a luxury investment portfolio manager at Elysian, telling Khaleej Times that it is “pathetic and repulsive”.

“I firmly believe that reputable companies with a long history on the market would never engage in such tactics,” Stavrakoglou told the newspaper.
