Bollywood film Bang Bang, starring popular Indian actors Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif, has completed filming in Abu Dhabi, the emirate’s media unit twofour54 revealed on Tuesday.

The movie is being produced as a partnership between Fox Star Studios and twofour54 and is the first Bollywood film to be produced in Abu Dhabi.

Filming started in early May, and took place across the emirate at the Corniche, Liwa oasis, Hyatt Capital Gate Hotel, Qasr al Sarab, Emirates Palace and Yas Island.

Bang Bang is using the production services of twofour54 intaj, twofour54’s film and television services provider and has also benefitted from the Abu Dhabi Film Commission’s 30 per cent production rebate in the emirate, a statement said.

One of the biggest Bollywood productions of the year, the movie is scheduled for release on October 2, 2014 at over 4,500 screens for an approximate audience of 50 million, it added.

“Abu Dhabi’s popularity as a destination to produce films has grown beyond Hollywood to include Bollywood – this is another step forward in the emirate’s emergence as an international filming and production hub,” said Noura Al Kaabi, CEO of twofour54.

“At our campus, we are equipped to provide world-class production and post-production services and facilities, even to the industry’s biggest blockbuster films.”

Abu Dhabi government entities provided logistical and on-the-ground support to ensure a “safe and secure execution of all movie stunts across all filming locations,” she added.

The UAE capital, which is aggressively wooing international film producers, announced earlier this week that Hollywood action thriller Fast & Furious 7 had completed filming in the city.

The emirate has also managed to attract other big ticket productions including Hollywood thriller Deliver us from Evil, Syrian production company Clacket’s The Brothers and the BBC’s Top Gear.
