It wasn’t long ago that buying a powerful gaming laptop with a big screen meant owning an outrageously colossal machine. However, ASUS has attempted to change that by offering sleek and efficient devices that can continue to provide an optimised gaming experience.

Addressing the evolving demands of gamers, ASUS recently introduced the ROG Zephyrus M16 – GU603.

A successor to M15, the new Zephyrus M16 – GU603 features a slim design, displays with super-narrow bezels, and efficient cooling solutions.

Distinctive design and wide display

Featuring a stylish and distinctive design with curved edges, the M16 weighs 1.9kg with a screen that folds 180 degrees. It promises a practical and comfortable user experience under a wide range of circumstances.

With a four-sided narrow bezel display, it equates to a 94 per cent screen-to-body ratio. For any gamer, a wide display is key to having an immersive experience. And with a 16-inch display supported by an extended 16:10 aspect ratio, the M16 delivers on that front. With a 100 per cent DCI-P3 colour gamut and Pantone validated colour accuracy, the M16’s display also supports Dolby Vision.

All of this is accomplished in a chassis that is 5 per cent lighter and smaller than its predecessor.

With its high brightness, the screen also makes the laptop suitable for use in various lighting environments. In addition, the M16’s monitor comes with a frame rate of 165Hz with a decent response time of 3 minutes, which ensures clarity in fast and competitive games.

Performance and connectivity

The M16 is equipped with a 11th generation lntel i9-11900H 8-core processor with the base clock speeds set at 2.5 GHz – with the ability to reach 4.9GHz speeds. And to handle gaming, Asus uses the laptop version of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX3070 GPU with 8GB GDDR6 memory.

The M16 has a wide variety of I/O ports and the Thunderbolt 4 port also offers fast connectivity.

Support for DisplayPort 1.4 lets gamers connect to high-resolution monitors, and there’s also up to 100w charging, allowing users to charge on the go. There’s also an included MicroSD card slot for easy transferring photos and videos.

The battery is another vital part of a gaming device; ASUS claims that the Zephyrus M16’s 90-Wh battery can last up to 10 hours.

Keyboard and touchpad

The keyboard comes with RGB lighting that can be controlled through the ASUS Unified System Tuning and Customisation app. The keyboard is also equipped with a fingerprint sensor at the power button. The touchpad has a large area, making it easier to use the panel.

Audio and webcam

The M16’s multi-faceted audio system streamlines recording and gaming. The device features Dolby Atmos technology, twin tweeters and dual force-cancelling woofers, which offer balanced acoustics. In addition, a customisable 3D mic array captures audio in various scenarios, while two-way AI noise cancellation ensures that external noise is blocked.

A blend of 2DNR and 3DNR technologies is used in the integrated 2MP webcam to reduce noise for images across sequences. The convenience of streaming and creating on-the-go is greatly enhanced by this technology.

Pricing and availability

The ROG Zephyrus M16 is now available in UAE. Price starts from Dhs7,999.
